West Contra Costa Unified School District
School Resource Officers
Greetings to our visitors to the West Contra Costa Unified School District/RPD web page. The police officers assigned to the schools in our district are known as School Resource Officers. They are committed to working in partnership with the school community to improve and enhance the educational environment at Richmond schools.

School Resource Officers work under the direct supervision of a Richmond Police sergeant, and are posted at designated West Contra Costa County Unified School District campuses in Richmond under contractual agreement with the District. The role of the School Resource Officer in this school-police partnership figures prominently. Officers are to ensure the safety of pupils, staff, and members of the public on or near public school campuses. The School Resource Officers works cooperatively with school staff to develop and enhance interagency strategies that improve school attendance, reduce rates of school crime and gang activity, and provide for a safe, secure, and peaceful environment on campus.

The School Resource Officers also participate in various mentoring programs, task forces, community coalitions, the Police Activities League, and truancy programs within their schools.  They may also assist with the mentoring and/or counseling of students. The School Resource Officers conduct formal presentations to classes and participate in school-based community meetings.

The Richmond school campuses with School Resource Officer assignments are:
