Richmond BUILD students complete a solar installation project
The City of Richmond is one of the first cities in the U.S. to include an Energy and Climate Change Element in its General Plan update. The City is currently in the process of developing this Element.

The Energy and Climate Change Element provides strategic direction for the City to promote mitigation, sustainability, and adaptation in response to climate change. The Element identifies goals, policies, and implementing actions to address the following:
  • Energy conservation
  • Reduction of climate change impacts
  • Renewable energy production and use
  • Responsible community revitalization
  • Sustainable business development
