Mural, "Revisionist History of San Pablo Avenue"
Dedicated June 9, 1996
Commissioned by the City of Richmond Arts & Culture Commission

Painted for the City of Richmond, early Californianos and Ohlones (the local tribe of Native Americans who inhabited the area) are shown interacting with current residents in a street scene composed of a gas station and storefronts. Text and signage on the storefronts makes reference to historical eras (i.e. Ohlone Bait and Tackle Shop, Castro Land Grant Co.-- Castro family received the original land grant on which city of Richmond is located.) Note other references, as the artist has painted small replicas of works by Frank Stella, Deborah Butterfield, etc. toward the southern end of the work. The artist is a resident of Richmond. Art education: a BA from Texas Tech University and MFA from Pratt Institute. Richmond resident.
