Commissioned by the Arts and Culture Commission. Commemorates sister city relationship with Shimada, Japan. Kanji characters of “friendship” signify people to people relationships and stones symbolize heaven, earth and humankind.

Shimada Park, end of Marina Bay Parkway to Southwind Circle gate the edge of San Francisco Bay.
