Welcome to the Northern District Webpage! The Northern District, the largest policing patrol district, encompasses some of the best Richmond has to offer from a large shopping mall, restaurants, and residential neighborhoods that run from the border of El Sobrante to the hills on the eastern edge of the city. There are two main thoroughfares that run through the district; San Pablo Avenue and 23rd Street, both of which have a variety of eateries and locally owned small businesses.

Irrespective of where you live in Richmond we place a high premium on public safety and a healthy emphasis on crime prevention. Our ability to provide police services are magnified by the tight-knit neighborhoods we serve to include the North and East, East Richmond, Fairmede Hilltop, Richmore Village, Nevin Plaza, Hilltop Village, Parchester Village, Hilltop Green HOA, Carriage Hills North and South, May Valley, Greenbriar, the San Pablo Business Association, and the Quail Hill Homeowners Association to name a few. Our residents are our greatest asset and resource for preventing as well as reporting crime. The district has police officers that work the same neighborhoods over long periods of time to enhance relationships with the community, build trust with our neighborhood partners, work on crime and quality of life issues collectively, and maintain open communication.

Our partnerships are key in preventing crime and, irrespective of how enhanced our technology may be, it is the relationships and open communication between beat officers and members of our community that help prevent as well as solve crime. Speaking of technology – we have some of the most sophisticated technology available to public safety to include Shotspotter for gunshot detection and a comprehensive CCTV citywide camera system that is monitored each and every day.

We strive to provide the best police service possible and encourage people to engage our beat officers regularly to discuss issues. We encourage you to get to know the officers, get to know your neighbors, report suspicious activity, and participate in Neighborhood Council Meetings for the different areas as a means of sharing ideas, staying informed, and being a partner in crime reduction.
