Richmond residents receive a green cart for organics. The green cart is picked up every other week for composting. Reduce your waste by putting all organics into the green cart for collection.     

What Goes into the Green Cart?

  • Food - fruit, vegetables, bread, pasta, meat, bones, dairy products, egg shells, coffee grounds
  • Food-Soiled Paper - Coffee cups, paper plates, paper bags, napkins, tea bags
  • Plants - Leaves, twigs, flowers, grass, yard trimmings

Get a free food scrap pail from the City of Richmond to collect kitchen scraps. Pails are available at City Hall while supplies last!, 450 Civic Center Plaza, City Manager's Office (3rd floor), Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. Call (510) 620-6512 for more information and to see if pails are available.
