The City of Richmond is committed to building community through enriching experiences and citywide special events. These events are designed with the entire family in mind and offered throughout the year. February

Black History Month Dinner & Celebration

A cultural celebration of the African American community in Richmond. Enjoy a meal and entertainment from local artists; and an honoring of community members who have contributed positively to the City.

Chinese New Year Celebration

This day is the first new moon day of the first Chinese lunar month in the Chinese Lunar Calendar system. We celebrate this event with our Chinese and greater community in Richmond during February. Enjoy a meal and entertainment from local performers and musicians for a night of fun and festivities.

Spring Egg Hunt and Recreation Information Day

Join us at Nicholl Park for our annual egg hunt and recreation information day to learn more about the different programs the Community Services department offers.

Parks Rx Day

CSD, in collaboration with Contra Costa Health Services and National Park Service, holds its annual Parks Prescription (Rx) Day in April at Nicholl Park. During the event, healthcare providers, park agencies, community groups, and other program leaders will organize events and activities at Nicholl Park, encouraging participants to improve their health and well-being by embracing the health benefits of nature. Join us for lots of fun and free activities such as free health screenings, yoga, tai chi, Walk with the Doc, bikes rides/repairs and giveaways, dance, instruction volleyball/soccer, and lunch.  Join us for a day of fun at your local park!

Senior Information and Health Fair Day

Senior Night Out

The City of Richmond, Community Services Department, and the Commission on Aging invite you to attend a night of fun and dancing at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium. TBA.

July

3rd of July Fireworks & Celebration

Fireworks, food, and fun are what this event is all about.  Celebrate with your fellow community members at Marina Bay Park to enjoy music until the night sky explodes with color in our 20-minute fireworks display.

October

Floating Pumpkin Patch 

Join us for our annual Pumpkin Patch in October at the Richmond Swim Center! Please wear the appropriate swimwear required listed here.

Harvest Festival

Candy Cane Classic Basketball Tournament

Basketball tournaments held at various gymnasiums in December.  Divisions include 10U, 12U, & 14U for both boys and girls.  For more information please call 510-620-6793.    

Snowball Scholarship Competition

This event is for all high school students, grades 9th - 12th from the WCCUSD. The event is held at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium in December.

Holiday Tree Lighting 

Join us for our holiday tree lighting with story time, Santa, and hot cocoa for all.

Senior Winter Ball

Join us for an evening of dinner and dancing.  This event will be held at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium in December.
