Lessons Learned from the Napa Earthquake

Come and learn from the "Lessons Learned from the Napa Earthquake", led by experts in the field.

At 3:20 AM on Sunday, August 24 an M 6.0 earthquake erupted near American Canyon in Napa County. According to the USGS, the quake was followed by 42 aftershocks within the next few days.

87 people were taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital, 3 in critical condition. One person later died.

There were 6 significant earthquake-related fires, including 4 mobile homes at Napa Valley Mobile Home Park. The Napa Valley Register reported over 100 broken water mains. PG&E reported 70,000 customers without electricity, 20 gas distribution ruptures and several hundred gas odor calls by residents.

“Lessons Learned from the Napa Earthquake”, led by Steven Frew, EBMUD Security & Emergency Preparedness Manager and Ron DeLucchi, PG&E Safety Demo Team member, will be discussed Tuesday, October 14, 2014, 7 – 8:30 PM.

This public event at the Pt. Richmond Community Center, 139 Washington Avenue, Richmond will be sponsored by Richmond Marina Bay CERT (Community Emergency Response Team.)
