Citywide Garage Sale

FIRST ANNUAL CITYWIDE GARAGE SALE

SATURDAY, MAY 13, 2023

In response to resident requests, the Recreation Division coordinated the first annual Citywide Garage Sale on May 13, 2023 from 9 am to 3 pm. The Citywide Garage Sale encourages residents to reuse and recycle locally and helps garage sale hosts reduce clutter by hosting a garage sale in front of their homes!

Thank you to all participants for making our first event a success! Stay tuned for the next Citywide Garage Sale event which will take place in spring or fall of 2024.

Did You Know?

In 2022, Kathy Webster, a Richmond resident, proposed the Citywide Garage Sale to the Recreation Division. Inspired by the El Cerrito Citywide Garage Sale, Webster felt strongly that one person's trash could be another person's blessing. The garage sale could benefit all parties involved and build community. The Recreation Division reached out to City of El Cerrito to jointly coordinate the inaugural event, resulting in the first regional garage sale event across 3 cities: Richmond, El Cerrito, and Albany.

Resources to Recycle or Dispose of Unwanted Items

If you still have unwanted items after the garage sale ends, make sure you dispose of them legally. Please do not place unwanted items on the curb, as this attracts illegal dumping. Any persons caught dumping illegally or littering can be fined up to $1,000.

Check out all of the resources that you can utilize as a Richmond resident to dispose of, exchange, donate, or recycle your items.
