How to Register with the Richmond Tool Library

***Only Richmond residents, Richmond property owners, Richmond business owners and City of Richmond employees can register with the Tool Library. NO EXCEPTIONS. ***

Please visit the Before Your First Visit: Rules and Regulations prior to starting registration. You will need to come in during our operating hours to confirm your proof as a Richmond resident and sign our waiver of indemnification before we can complete your registration with the Richmond Tool Library. We use myTurn.com instead of the Richmond Public Library's web platform, so we need all patrons to create new accounts with us.

When you come in, please bring ALL (3) THREE of the following:

  1. Valid Richmond Public Library card (Contra Costa County Library cards are not accepted), AND
  2. Current photo identification, AND
  3. Proof of residency, dated in the last 60 days, satisfied by one of the following: current lease/rental agreement (with patron’s name listed as tenant), current utility bill (with patron’s name listed), car registration, or current tax bill (in patron’s name) identifying ownership of property in Richmond. Please note: a driver's license will not satisfy as proof of residency.
Note: Patrons who rent mailboxes must provide proof of residency or property ownership in Richmond before being granted borrowing privileges at the RTL.
Note: Nonprofits/other agencies/business owners in Richmond are welcome to sign up as well. Please contact the Tool Library for more details on how to sign up.
