Chalk Art Wall

4/20/2019 - 9th Annual North Richmond Earth Day
We continued to support beautification efforts in North Richmond during the 9th Annual North Richmond Earth Day Celebration! Held at Shields-Reid Park again, we asked residents, "What do you love about North Richmond?"

The event was led by Community Housing Development Corporation, in collaboration with multiple agencies and organizations.

4/21/2018 - 8th Annual North Richmond Earth Day
In addition to the Rancho Market Community Paint Day during Earth Day, we had our #loveyourblock chalk art wall at Shields-Reid Park. Our Love North Richmond Resident Leaders Driscoll, Clarence, Ziana, and Karen led this activity. They asked residents, "How would you make a difference in North Richmond?"

A huge thank you to More Than A Game US for putting together this beautiful video that captures how the art installation engaged #NorthRichmondCA community members and residents.

10/4/2016 - Art In Windows with Richmond Main Street Initiative
To celebrate the launch of the 2016-2017 Love Your Block application cycle, we joined Richmond Main Street Initiative for the Art In Windows opening reception and brought back our interactive Chalkboard Art Installation in front of the Richmond BART station. Community members of all ages stopped by to tell us about their aspirations and the impact our $2,000 mini-grants could have on their Richmond neighborhoods.

The installation was up for two weeks, and Art In Windows pieces, featuring artwork created through Love Your Block-funded workshops, remained on display until November.

12/2015 - Chalk Art at Richmond BART
In December 2015 the Love Your Block Team created and installed an art wall that gathered Richmond residents to answer the question, "With $1,000, how would you #LoveYourBlock?" The question came up, because the Love Your Block team in itself will be giving 1000 worth of grants to community members for winning projects.
