Book Donations

Due to the renovation of the Main Library, The Friends of the Richmond Public Library are not currently accepting donations.


Upon completion of the Main Library's renovation, The Friends of the Richmond Public Library will again accept donations on behalf of the Richmond Public Library. Materials accepted for donation may be chosen for incorporation into the Library collection, sold by the Friends to raise funds to be spent in accordance with the Friends' bylaws, or given away in support of literacy projects. The disposition of materials shall be at the discretion of the Library and Friends. 

Materials left at the Library that have not been accepted for donation may be disposed of in any manner deemed appropriate by the Library or the Friends.

Materials we have previously accepted:

  • Hardcover and softcover books, in good condition, published within the last 10 years.
  • CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray discs.
  • Art and antiquarian books

Materials we have previously not accepted:

  • Dirty, torn, moldy, highlighted, and water damaged materials
  • Cassettes
  • VHS
  • Workbooks, training manuals, textbooks, encyclopedias, business, health books, and magazines

Donations are currently not being accepted:

  • The last day for accepting donations was October 30, 2024 due to the coming renovation of the Main Library.
  • This page will be updated when donations resume upon completion of the renovation project.
