To be eligible for the R-Transit Program, you must be either a resident of Richmond, North Richmond, El Sobrante, or Kensington.
R-Transit serves clients 18 years or older. Applicants between the ages of 18-54 must provide proof of disability by following the application process detailed below. Applicants age55 and above are exempt from providing medical information.
Apply by mail or in person: Fill out an application. Be sure to attach a color copy of your photo ID*, and any piece of mail addressed to you at your current address.
*Photo ID: DMV issued ID or Driver's License, Passport, Greencard, or Richmond Municipal Identification/Stored Value Card.
Disability: Medical information is not required for applicants 55 and above. Applicants who meet the residency requirement and are 55 and older do not fill out Section IV of the application. Applicants between the ages of 18-54 should fill out Section IV of the application if they are unable to provide proof of disability:

Applicants need to fill out Section IV of the application. This section authorizes R-Transit to obtain information from the physician regarding an applicant's disability. In order to verify an applicant's disability R-Transit will submit a request to the specified medical center in Section IV of the application to fill a Physician's Certification form. The physician will determine temporary or permanent eligibility for R-Transit services. The average turn around time to receive the form from the medical center is 10 business days.
55 - above
Individuals age 55 and above, who meet the residency requirement will qualify for the R-Transit program regardless of mobility challenges. Therefore, applicants age 55 and above are exempt from completing Section IV of the application.
