The City of Richmond and The Trust for Public Land, a national non-profit, are partnering to bring the successful community-build park program to revitalize John F. Kennedy Park! Built in 1968, this 4.8-acre park will be renovated to meet the changing needs of today’s park users and bring multiple benefits to the neighborhood.
Community members are invited to join in the participatory process to design and build the park improvements. Help shape future programs aimed at improving quality of life and providing connections to meaningful, safe, beautiful outdoor spaces for people of all ages.
The community-build approach is part of a sustainable program the City has adopted to provide both an opportunity for thoughtful design and a thorough participatory design process, a means to leverage funding with volunteer labor and local contributions, and extensive park renovation in less than one year. On “Make a Difference Day 2015,” the City and project partners will complete the park build-out with over 350 volunteers. Sign up to volunteer!
