Commissioned by the City of Richmond Arts & Culture Commission.
The large liberty ship depicted, uses the sidewalk which is above the street level as a deck with the upper part of the ship painted above and the hull below. Artist used as his subject the well known history of ship building in Richmond during WWII. The artist was born in Portugal and received his art education there. He is well known for his murals in the Bay Area.
