Homicide Unit

620The goal of the Richmond Police Department’s Robbery / Homicide Unit is to improve the quality of life of the members of this community by investigating serious assault, robbery, homicide and death cases in the city of Richmond, arresting the person(s) responsible and ultimately bringing them to justice before a court of law. Our unit relies heavily on information provided by the members of our community to solve these violent crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice.

To serve the people of Richmond most efficiently, we have day-shift and swing-shift investigative teams. By having the two teams work different schedules we have Robbery / Homicide Unit detectives on-duty 18 hours per day. During the hours when Robbery / Homicide Unit detectives are not on-duty, one full team is “on-call” and can be reached by the Watch Commander 24 hours a day.
