The Richmond City Council approved the establishment of the Macdonald Avenue Corridor Task Force on September 23, 2025, following a proposal by Mayor Eduardo Martinez and Councilmember Doria Robinson.

This limited-duration, Brown Act-compliant body brings together direct stakeholders and key decision-makers with influence over the corridor. The Task Force serves as a collaborative forum to:

  • Identify shared priorities

  • Share diverse community and stakeholder perspectives

  • Coordinate revitalization and development efforts

Purpose and Goals

The primary mission of the Task Force is to deliver a comprehensive set of recommendations to the Richmond City Council for the revitalization of the Macdonald Avenue Corridor.

Key Deliverables

  1. Short-Term Actions

    • Enhance safety

    • Improve cleanliness

    • Activate the corridor 

  2. Mid-Term Strategies

    • Boost business attraction and retention

    • Support housing and transportation improvements

    • Expand community-serving amenities

  3. Long-Term Vision

    • Create a future-focused plan for the built environment, supported by schematic design and consultant research

    • Position the corridor to attract innovative developers and investment

Appointed by the Mayor, the stakeholder group includes:

  • Sarah Wally, Executive Director. Richmond Main Street Initiative (RMSI)

  • Ruthie Dineen, Executive Director, East Bay Center for the Performing Arts

  • Bryan Alvarez, Treasurer, Richmond Renaissance

  • One (1) Seat - Vacant

  • Sunset Date: December 31, 2026, or earlier upon completion of its objectives
